Thread lift in Bonn

A thread lift is a minimally invasive method of tightening the skin. No scalpels are involved. Instead, the slack areas of the skin are returned to their correct position by means of fine threads or sutures, which are placed under the skin.

Lifting without scalpels

From around the 25th year of life, the “triangle of beauty” of faces begins to recede. The V- shaped face – with its pronounced cheekbones and a smooth, slim jawline and chin – develops into a U-shaped face with a wider lower jaw, deep nasolabial folds, a raised angle between the jaw and neck, and falling eyebrows. Normally there is no need to conduct a facelift operation on patients aged between 25 and 55. The signs of time can be considerably alleviated using liquid facelifts with fillers or through what is known as a thread lift.

The skin is tightened via thin threads, which are inserted below the skin. The procedure significantly reduces wrinkles.

Unlike a classic face lift, no surgery is necessary for the thread lift. A thread lift can be carried out on an outpatient basis. The results are visible immediately.

We discuss and decide which areas are to be tightened during a lengthy consultation. Do not take any aspirin or other blood-thinning medication 14 days prior to the therapy.

A mark is made on the lowest point of the sagging area of skin. The vector for the desired area of skin that is to be lifted is chosen. The needle is supposed to be inserted and removed from two points on the skin. These so-called penetration sites (entrance and exit sites) are numbed using local anaesthetic prior to treatment.

With a blunt needle the sutures are threaded into the subcutaneous skin at the deepest point of the sagging facial skin and then pushed upwards along the pull vector and directed back out of the skin. The special thread usually features small, barbed hooks, which massage the tissue upwards and hold it in place. The treatment lasts between 30 minutes to one hour. The injection sites are anaesthetised. Additional sedation is possible for hospital patients or those attending the clinic on an outpatient basis.

The places where the threads are introduced heal without a scar after a very short time. Minor swelling or bruising disappears after a few days. The same is true of any wrinkles that appear in the areas where the tissue has been gathered.

The full effect of the thread lift becomes visible after 3 to 6 weeks. You can return to life as normal after 1 to 2 days.

Mild redness, swelling and minimal bruising may occur after treatment. The procedure is very safe when performed by an experienced physician.

The threads dissolve after time. The lifting effect can usually be maintained over 2 to 3 years by means of biostimulation. Contraindications include excessively slack skin and connective tissue, very thin skin and very deep facial wrinkles. The treatment cannot replace a classic surgical face lift in cases where this is necessary.

In theory, a thread lift can be combined with any skin-rejuvenating treatment. We can draw up a personalised treatment plan for you during a detailed consultation.
