A body lift tightens the waist by performing a belt-shaped incision around the body. The surrounding tissue is mobilised and tightened, and excess skin is removed.
American physician Ted Lockwood developed the so-called “body lift” back in the 1990s. It was intended for patients who had lost a lot of weight, especially after bariatric surgery (e.g. gastric bypass, gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy operations), and who had to deal with massive surpluses of skin, as the skin often failed to retract to the necessary degree after the huge weight loss. It was revolutionary at the time – it marked the first time that multiple regions of the body could be significantly tightened in one single operation. We distinguish between a lower and an upper body lift.
A lower body lift refers to a firming of the lower body (stomach, hips, buttocks and thighs). In order to achieve this, we make a belt-like incision around the body.
The tissue above and below this incision is mobilised and firmed. Excess skin is removed. The resulting scars are inconspicuous and not visible, as they sit below the bikini line. The navel is reformed. This creates a smooth, barely visible scar around the tummy button.
In addition, a separate upper thigh lift may be carried out as part of the treatment in order to achieve a perfect result, as the firming from the lower body lift is not sufficient to cover the entire upper thigh area.

The upper body lift serves to firm the upper body (breast, flanks, upper arms, back). A wedge-shaped incision is made in the flanks. For women, it is generally necessary to firm the breast area as well. The scars are often smooth and are located in the bra area.
In order to achieve a perfect final result, an additional firming of the upper arms is required at a later date. The body lift is not sufficient to firm the entire upper arm region.

We believe it is very important to not just firm the body, but to also model it so it looks natural.
The weight loss achieved through bariatric procedures presents a great opportunity and achievement that should be rewarded with a great final surgical result in terms of aesthetics too. This is really important to us.
That is why, we don’t just seek to firm the body, we also look to contour it to create a beautiful shape. We remove local fatty deposits (like the so-called “love handles”) and use special condensing techniques on the fatty tissue to increase the projection of the buttocks. This serves to create a slim figure with lovely, rounded buttocks on women, while for men we aim for a V-shaped figure for the upper body and a gender-specific moderate projection of the buttocks.
Do you have any questions concerning the upper or lower body lift? Let’s discuss your specific case in detail. We will show you what is possible and what is realistic. And we will help you to finally get the body that you have earned!

DURATION
4-6 Stunden
ANAESTHETIC
General anaesthetic
POST-OP CARE
6 weeks of compression clothing
RECOMMENCE SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
14 days wearing a headband
EXERCISE
After 6-8 weeks
After a detailed consultation and a comprehensive examination, we will decide together which region we will perform the first tightening operation on. We can combine treatments, e.g. a lower body lift and upper arm tightening.
Do not take any aspirin or other blood-thinning medication 14 days prior to the operation.
The surgery takes around 4-6 hours and is carried out under general anaesthetic.
You will see the results of the treatment immediately, but you need to allow plenty of time to recuperate. The final results will be visible after 6-8 weeks. You will need to wear compression clothing for 6 weeks after surgery to get a perfect result. You can return to your normal routine after around 14 days.
Potential operational risks are discussed and explained in detail prior to the intervention. All operations carry a risk. As cosmetic surgery constitutes what is known as an elective, voluntary intervention, it is even more important that the patient is fully informed and prepared for the operation. We offer our full support to you before and after the operation and are available 24/7 during this period.
